Understanding The 80/20 Rule In Relationships And How This Can Completely Transform Your Relationships

I once watched a great movie by Tyler Perry called “Why Did We Get Married”. This movie is all about relationships and discusses the key issues surrounding it. A group of friends decide to head to the mountain for the weekend with their partners to bond and connect with each other.

Each person has their own set of problems in their relationships and they proceed to deconstruct the issues over a nice bonfire.

One of the guys in the group was secretly dating another woman while he was already in a relationship. He didn’t care about his existing partner for she was overweight. His existing partner was one of the most caring and loveable persons on the planet yet the guy chased after another woman.

Tyler Perry who is the protagonist in the movie proceeds to give advice to this man. His begins by sharing the concept of the 80/20 rule in relationships.

The 80/20 rule states the following:

“The belief that in a relationship, you’ll never get 100% of what you want, so at most you get 80%. But some other person may come along and have that missing 20% you don’t have. Some folks fall for the 20% just to realize they should’ve stayed for their original 80%. “Tyler Perry

I’ve always remembered that quote for it’s literally saved my sanity. We always tend to look at our partners limitations and forget that they are not perfect. We always want more and by remembering the 80/20 rule, we can calm the f*ck down and stay focused on our partners.

Temptation will always be there. There will always be someone out there who’s “better” than him or her. Always remember the 80/20 rule in relationships.

Stay Strong and Be Relentless.
