The Top 3 Signs You Should Start Writing Your First Book

I wrote my first book years ago. It was titled “How To Increase Your Website Traffic” It’s a very technical book but it was the only thing I had going for me during the time when I was building my web design business.

I was earning a lot of money through web design so I decided to teach how to increase website traffic so it was pretty important to do this.

We all need traffic and without it, you can’t sell products, promote your work and get exposure. When I published the book through Entrepreneur Press, it was featured everywhere and I made a lot of money at the start.

Looking back, I realised that there are certain signs in which trigger you to start writing your first book.

Here they are:

Sign 1 – Your Passionate About Your Topic

I always believe that if you’re truly passionate in your topic, you won’t struggle with writers block. If you know your topic so well, it will just come out freely.

You have to stick with something that you’re passionate about in order to see the book through. Your book will take up a lot of time, energy and resources throughout the year. You will have to juggle work and personal commitments and find an hour somewhere to write a page into your book.

This is mentally taxing and requires tremendous discipline and focus.

So if you’re trying to write about a topic you don’t like, for me it’s Taxes, forget it. Imagine coming home from a hard days work to write a book you hate to write. You won’t even get past the first page.

Therefore passion is the true engine behind your book. It’s going to get you through the tough times and eventually finish your book.

Sign 2 – You Know A Lot

Obviously you have to know something about your topic. A good way to gauge this is to whether you have personal experience in it. If you’ve had experience in starting a business, making it successful or even failing in business, you can share some of your ideas to someone who hasn’t started a business.

There is no such thing as a ceiling on what you should know before you write your book. Just as long as you have some personal experience in it and know how to do it, that is enough. There is a common misconception that you don’t know enough to write the book. Well no one knows everything so there you go.

Sign 3 – It Comes From The Heart

Finally, does the book you want to write come from the heart? If it does, you got a great book there. Keep in mind that once you finish the book, you have to market it and thats where the work comes in.

If your book came from the heart, then you’ll market from the heart too. You’ll connect with your audience in your video, content and posts so that people will be compelled to buy and read your book.

Conclusion

Writing your first book is one of the most exciting experiences you ever have. If you’re guy reading this, it would feel like you’ve given birth to a baby. It requires so much nurturing, dedication, work, love and commitment to finish your book.

But when you finish your book and see it up there on the bookshelves and even sign your first autograph, trust me, it’s the best feeling in the world.

Now go write that book of yours.

Stay Strong and Be Relentless.
