I’ve been a health fanatic for many years. I’ve signed up to many gyms in my life, dieted, lifted a ton of weights, bench pressed, ab crutches, cardio and more. I’ve gained a ton of weight, I’ve also lost a ton of weight. My weight has seriously been a yo yo where it’s consistently going up and down.
However if I were to chose one single method to losing weight, it would be this.
Count your calories.
I know. Super boring. It’s not fun at all and totally uncool. Who wants to keep a log of what they eat every single day? No one. It’s annoying, tedious and unpopular.
But it works.
If you think about it, it’s impossible to gain weight if you’re not eating junk food. There is just no way. In order for you to gain weight, the junk food has to enter your mouth and then your body does the magic of fat storage.
If you’re not eating fat, then there is no fat storage. Hence, if you’re tracking and consciously knowing what you’re putting in your mouth, then the odds of you gaining weight are extremely slim.
Also, if you’re consciously tracking the calories of every single thing you eat then you’re mindful of what your calorie intake. As you know, if your body’s calorie limit is 2,000 per day, then if you’e consuming more than 2,000 calories per day, then you gain weight, if you consume less, then you lose weight.
It’s really that simple. Keep your calorie under 2,000 and you’ll lose weight.
A few months ago, I was under so much pressure. I was working on this project that was taking so much energy and life force from me that I had to compensate by eating. I was stress eating and convinced myself that it’s not junk food. This went on for months and as a result, I gained 10 kilos.
I was fed up with my health and I had to do something about it. In the past, I remember when I hit 80 kilos, I 100% went all in by going to the gym, eating healthy and counting my calories.
The secret was counting my calories. Even if I didn’t go to the gym at times, I was super conscious about what I was eating. I lost 12 kilos and bought my weight to 68 kilos giving me a nice six pack.
So I did exactly that except, this time, I didn’t go to the gym. I did my home workouts sometimes but everyday, I counted my calories. As a result, I’ve lost 5 kilos in a few months by pure calorie counting.
Yes, it’s boring. Yes, it’s not exciting. Yes it’s tedious. But it works.
If you wanted a solution despite how boring the method is, would you do it? Of course you would. Most people would skip this and think of another way to lose weight but that’s all it is. Simply count your calories and make sure you don’t go over your limit.
I’ve been super strict with my eating for the past few months and I’ve kept it under 1,500 calories per day. Sometimes I do go over the limit but I make sure I’m back on track the next day and continue cutting.
So there it is, the secret to losing weight the boring way, count your calories. In a few months, you’ll see your abs again and realise it was all worth it.
Stay Strong and Be Relentless.
