Today marks the day of publishing on You Be Relentless for 4 straight months. Every single day I’ve been writing and creating some sort of content for this website. Even though it’s only been 4 months, it still feels like a long time. I must admit, when you past the 4 month mark, you’ve built a strong habit of creating some sort of content every single day. Your brain has accepted this new activity as and you’ve rewired your brain to always publish something every single day.
If you watch all the successful gurus online who are attracting big followings on their social media accounts, you’ll notice that they are consistent with their publishing. Whether they are creating great content or terrible content, it doesn’t matter, they keep on pushing out content every single day.
So why is it so important to publish every single day? The reason is because the more content you have, the more traffic and exposure you get. It’s that simple. They are playing the law of averages and know that it 20% of their content will give them 80% of the results. It’s the typical 80/20 rule.
So if you’ve published 100 videos on YouTube, all it takes is 20 videos that will make the biggest difference to your exposure. Those 20 videos will give you the most traffic, attention and opportunities rather than the 80.
Therefore, it’s important to remember to not get stuck into analysis paralysis. Many people would freak out before they put out a blog post. They think that it has to be perfect, error free, what people want to read and more. There’s so much head trip stuff going on in their head that they can’t even publish more than 10 articles / videos.
Secret to Publishing Every Day
What I’ve found that works for me when it comes to publishing every single day is to just not worry about the content you put out there. Of course, this has to be within reason but what I mean is don’t stress whether it’s perfect or not. You will never get it 100% perfect. You’ll never put that article that 100% grammar free or a video with perfect lighting and audio etc.
You can waste hours, if not days on making a content piece perfect. At the end, you’re not as productive as someone who pumps out content every single day.
Therefore the secret sauce behind the mentality of daily publishing is to forget perfection and keep publishing. Also remember that if people don’t like your style of writing or content, good! As long as you’re being 100% authentic in your communications, then you don’t need to worry about losing readership. It’s better to be 100% real and have 10 followers who love you than completely fake and hundreds of people like the person you’re not.
I’ve learned this the hard way where I had to write a certain way, dress myself up, create a topic that people will enjoy etc. It’s a trap and you waste tons of energy creating this false identity online that will crash anytime.
What will keep you blogging or vlogging for the next 10 years is passion and authenticity. If you’re not passionate about the topic you’re putting out there, you won’t overcome the hurdles required to succeed. You’ll just give up and try something else. If you’re not authentic in your communications, you’ll wake up in a few years time tired and out of energy trying to be someone you’re not and people like the fake you.
So if you’re sitting on the sidelines wondering how to make an online business succeed, there’s your answer. Passion and Authenticity.
Stay Strong and Be Relentless.
