This week I attended a great workshop held by Joe Duncan. Joe Duncan is the founder of Before5am who organically grew his following to half a million within a year.
I first met Joe online through his instagram posts. He writes truly inspirational posts that motivates you and helps you strive towards your goals. I really like the way Joe writes for he’s truly authentic and genuine with his words.
After reading a few of his posts, I decided to interview him for my podcast. He kindly accepted. We spoke about goals, growing a social media following, working on your passion and doing what you love. That interview was one of the most interesting interviews I’ve done and many people enjoyed listening to it.
A few months later, Joe invited me to his upcoming workshop titled “Conversations with Joe”. In this workshop, the invited guests can ask him questions on personal development, goal setting, following your passion and much more.
Here are a few key takeaways from this great workshop lead by Joe Duncan.
You have to deploy patience. Joe Duncan told his story about how he started off working in Woolworths and then going through a major discovery. He had always dreamed of influencing the world but he didn’t know how to achieve it. Years later, he was able to finally achieve his dream but it took a lot of patience to get there. The moral of the story is to always deploy patience.
The Side Hustle.
I asked the question in Joe’s workshop. “How do you balance between passion and doing something just for the money?” Joe replied back that if you’re in that situation where your passion isn’t enough to pay the bills, do it part time.
It’s important to always work on your dreams but if you can’t do it full time, do it part time. Let your main source of income pay for your expenses while you moonlight on your side hustle.
Another important key takeaway is to always do some inner work. Personal development is critical in order to achieve greater success. If you want to change the fruits of the tree, you have to change the roots.
It’s also important to note that there’s a lot of inspirational quotes on social media that people tend to share. This alone won’t help you and change your life for you really have to do some deep inner work. Although quotes can help motivate you, you have to put in the work in order to turn your life around.
Overall, this was a life changing workshop. I highly recommend for you to check out Joe Duncan’s seminars for he is the real deal. Great work Joe!
