The 3 Main Challenges You Must Overcome While Building Your Online Business

We are living in a great time in history whereby we have the tools available to communicate with everyone around the world. We have the Internet, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Emails and more. We have all these tools at our disposal and can create empires that can fund our dreams and lifestyles.

Yet most people can’t utilise these resources. What the reason? Overload. There’s never been a time in history where we have so much information available. We can get nearly everything we want by going to Google. Yes you can buy courses and learn but you there is a wealth of free information at our finger tips.

Imagine what it was like 1,000 years ago? There were no computers, internet or media that you could use. Things were slow. Things would take time. Things would require permission from the higher authorities. There were bigger systems and structures in place that would require you to enter before you could “play with the big boys”.

For example advertising. In the past, you would have to advertise through TV, Radio and Magazines. This is incredibly expensive but it’s the only way to get your voice heard. People who are singers had to sing in random bars to try and go through an agent who may be drinking there. The agent had all the power.

These days, you can publish your work on a blog, youtube, social media and it can be viewed by hundreds and thousands of people. And guess what? It’s all free! It’s truly amazing what we can achieve these days.

Teenagers are getting over 100k followers on their social media accounts. Imagine 100,000 people? That’s similar to a presidential inauguration. Yet we still struggle to build our empires.

What’s the main reason for this? We have all the tools available yet we still struggle getting our voice heard.

Here are the 3 main challenges that we can conquer to stand out in a world of noise.

Saturation

Everywhere you look, there is someone doing what you’re doing. If you didn’t see it before, as soon as you start your business, you’ll see it everywhere. It’s like buying a new car and then as soon as you drive it, you see the same car everywhere.

The Internet is filled with people who are doing the same thing you are doing so the problem lies in saturation. How can you stand out from the rest? If you’re a drop in the pool, how can you get your message heard?

Uniqueness

Due to high saturation, what makes you different from the rest? There’s so many products and services out there so what makes you stand out? Finding your unique voice can be challenging however the one voice that no one can compete with is you. Try to tie your own personality into your marketing for no one can clone you.

Focus

This is probably the biggest killer to your productivity. Did you know it takes about 20 minutes for you to get back to your task once you’ve been interrupted? For example, if you’re writing an email and concentrating, if someone calls you, you stop writing and answer the phone. Then it will take you another 20 minutes to get back to that email and get into the zone again.

The problem with so many tools at our disposal is that it’s incredibly easy for anyone to contact us. They can contact us via phone, email, sms text, social media. As soon as they send a message, a popup appears on our phone and we stop what we are doing and check it. This is absolutely dangerous to your online business for you will spend the bulk of your time just answering notifications and feel like you’re working.

I’m afraid if I were to add up all my social media time, I’ll find that I’ve wasted years already. So the best advice I can give you on managing your focus right now and will increase your productivity by 1,000%, is to turn off notifications. If someone emails you, sends you a message, contacts you, turn off notifications.

You have you phone sitting next to you and you’re working, it will distract you when a popup appears. Every. Single. Time. Please take my word for this, I’ve been building online projects for over a decade and distraction is such a huge killer to your productivity. Just try it out, turn off ALL notifications for one day and see how productive you are.

Conclusion

Just like the 80/20 rule, 20% of the activities you do will account for 80% of the results. I’ve given you the key 20% of key activities to master. Productivity is a major part of building and online business. The ones who succeed get the most important projects done and move onto the next. The unsuccessful ones are still working on that one task for years.

By overcoming those 3 challenges, you’ll be able to succeed and make your mark on the world.
